MV celebrates 80 years with retro themes and limited production runs for 2025

In 2025, MV Agusta will celebrate the 80th anniversary of its very first model, the MV 98cc, with a special Ottantesimo Collection spanning six of its motorcycles – the Brutale RR, Dragster RR, F3 RR, Superveloce S, Brutale 1000, and Brutale 1000 RR. Each of these bikes will have retro-inspired liveries, as well as MV’s original logo stamped on its sides. In a further nod to the company’s past, each bike will have the “Emmevi” spelling somewhere on it. This spelling was originally seen on the engine cases from MV’s first engine in 1943 to help people pronounce the two letters Italian style.


Each of the six bikes in the Ottantesimo Collection will only be produced in a limited production run of 500 units, and more importantly, these 500 units will make up the entirety of that model’s model year 2025 allocation worldwide. Fans will say this is a way to commemorate a special anniversary year, critics will say the small production run is a sign that MV’s struggling to move old bikes off dealer floors, and MV will say this is its way of making its entire product line more exclusive – something it said it would do after the Pierer Mobility Group takeover. We’ll let you choose which team you’re on. For now, here’s a breakdown of each model. You might also notice the Turismo Veloce wasn’t included in this collection. Interestingly, it hasn’t received any Euro5+ updates, but MV representatives confirmed the model was not going away.

Controrotante Family - 3 cylinder

Four of the six models from the Ottantesimo Collection come from MV’s three-cylinder family. As a quick refresher, and as the name suggests, the inline-Three features a counter-rotating crankshaft as well as a 6-axis IMU. Electronic features include adjustable TC, ABS, MV’s ride app, launch control, and cruise control, just to name a few. The engine is now Euro5+ compliant. The primary mechanical change for 2025 is a new 9-disk slip and assist clutch. Not only does the extra disk compared to 2024 help manage the power better, MV says the new clutch system also reduces clutch pull effort by 50%.


Brutale RR Ottantesimo

An iconic name in the MV Agusta range, the Brutale RR Ottantesimo is described as the “classic MV for the current generation.” This collection is characterized by iconic colors: Rosso Ago and Argento Ago – a clear tribute to MV’s past – along with a dedicated Color Trim & Graphic (CTG) and the Heritage logo.


Dragster RR Ottantesimo

Known for its aggressive style, the Dragster RR Ottantesimo represents the rebellious side of MV Agusta. The Dragster is the only bike in the Ottantesimo collection without the new 9-disk clutch. Instead, the Dragster comes equipped with the SCS (Smart Clutch System), which renders the clutch virtually redundant. The Ottantesimo edition features darker tones like Metallic Carbon Black and Argento Ago, highlighting its rebellious character with the Heritage logo in gold.


F3 RR Ottantesimo

What better bike to pay tribute to MV’s sportbike past than with the F3 RR Ottantesimo. Here we’re paying homage to MV Agusta’s heritage with an iconic color combination: Argento Ago and Rosso Ago, flowing over the aerodynamic carbon-fiber fairing in a tribute to the legendary F4 750. The F3 RR Ottantesimo includes a special kit with an Akrapovic exhaust (boosting total power to 155 HP at 13,250 rpm), a carbon-fiber silencer cover, CNC-machined fuel cap, and passenger seat cover.


Superveloce S Ottantesimo

The Superveloce represents elegance and exclusivity. With its neo-retro design, it gets attention wherever it goes. The Ottantesimo edition boasts a unique color combination: Fire Red and Satin Intense Silver, highlighting its lines and curves. Enhancing the experience are the Alcantara seat and new “Millerighe” wheels. The dedicated kit includes an Arrow exhaust, boosting power to 153 HP, and a passenger seat cover.

Radiale Family - 4 cylinder

The four-cylinder engine of the Ottantesimo collection is a stalwart of MV Agusta’s product line and delivers 201 hp at 13,500 rpm and 85 lb-ft of torque at 11,000 rpm thanks to its 16 titanium radial valves and forged titanium connecting rods. For 2025 it gets more updates than the three cylinders, the most important of which is its Euro5+ compliance. A new ECU and different (DLC-coated) camshaft profiles result in new maps, better throttle sensitivity, and a bump in torque and power lower in the rev range compared to the previous Euro5 version as seen below:


  • 3500 rpm = +10 Nm and +6 HP
  • 5500 rpm = +20 Nm and +15 HP
  • 8000 rpm = +11 Nm and +12 HP
  • 9500 rpm = +10 Nm and +12 HP


Both the Brutale 1000 Ottantesimo and Brutale 1000 RR Ottantesimo feature a new 4-output exhaust system, developed in collaboration with Arrow, producing the signature MV Agusta sound.

The new 10-disc slipper clutch with torque assist reduces clutch lever pull by 50%, just like the new clutch on the three-cylinder models.


The Ride-by-Wire system offers improved throttle sensitivity thanks to an updated control algorithm. Four Riding Modes are available: Rain, Sport, Race, and Custom, allowing the rider to adjust parameters such as throttle sensitivity, engine torque, engine braking, and response.


Brutale 1000 Ottantesimo

The Brutale 1000 has always combined raw power with ergonomics that aren’t as committed as a sportbike, making it perfect for riders who want to switch between sporty and relaxed riding styles. The Brutale 1000 Ottantesimo retains its distinctive aesthetics, with updated livery and completely renewed engine behavior. The colors chosen for the Brutale 1000 Ottantesimo are Rosso Ago, Argento Ago, and gold from the Heritage logo.


Brutale 1000 RR Ottantesimo

MV’s definition of a true hyper-naked, with stunning aesthetics, lots of power, and plenty of adrenaline. The riding experience is now improved thanks in part to Öhlins Smart EC 3.0 suspension, with dedicated algorithms to processes various inputs from the inertial platform, engine control ECU, and ABS to identify and analyze braking, corner entry, apex, acceleration, and corner exit, always providing the rider with optimal support. This new event-based model thus analyzes the specific riding situation rather than adjusting electronic “clicks”. The Brutale 1000 RR Ottantesimo is available in Fire Red and Ago Matte Silver, with extensive use of visible carbon fiber for a touch of exclusive aggression.

The Most Amazing News of All

MV tells us that, roughly speaking, prices for the Ottantesimo Collection will stay flat from 2023. These bikes are expected to reach European dealers by the end of March 2025. Unfortunately, the North American market will have to wait a little longer before we get ours. And because all the bikes for 2025 model year are part of the anniversary collection, MV is positioning them to be collectibles.

    I don't know what to think about MV bikes. On one hand they are something to behold, on the other hand, they are so far outside any notion of practicality in the class that such bikes like MT and Z and GSX occupy. I think my logic brain is so dominate about MV that my artistic brain is being told to shut up.
